Baader Planetarium's Micro Guide eyepiece is a very versatile accessory that can be used for a variety of measurements and applications. This 1.25" 12.5mm Abbe Orthoscopic eyepiece features a fine laser-etched illuminated reticle for measurements. With four separate scales on one reticle, you can guide deep-sky astrophotos, measure the angular separation of double stars, determine the periodic error of your drive system, or measure the position angle (PA) of a comet's tail.
The reticle lines are sharp for the best possible definition. And the variable brightness illuminator makes it easy to use even on faint stars. The lenses feature multi-layer (MC) multicoating on each glass-air surface. The eyepiece is thus completely free of reflections, and the measurement field scaling is clearly visible even with long eye relief (eyeglass wearers) which is essential for correctly tracked long exposures. Built-in diopter correction allows you to focus the reticle sharply for your eye.
Examples of the applications of this eyepiece include:
- Accurate direct or indirect tracking of objects
- Easy use of guide stars in off-axis guiders without the need to center the guide star in the eyepiece
- Measuring position angles and separation of double stars
- Precise size measurements of Lunar features
- Measuring the exact focal length of a telescope (with a tolerance of approximately 0.3%)
The glass reticle plate has guiding rings for astro photography, a 360° scale for measuring double star position angles, and a linear scale for measuring distances. The included manual provides detailed explanations of the applications and supporting mathematical formulas with examples.
