Product Details

The Eclipse MAKVIEW150 is a superb optical and mechanical instrument without the much higher price tag of comparable telescopes on the market today. The 150mm, f/12 design excels at all types of visual and imaging observations and is especially suited to high-power observations of solar system objects. The MAKVIEW150 offers a perfect compromise between aperture, portability and cost. Its proven Maksutov optical design gives sharp, high-contrast images and a long focal length (1800mm) in a compact tube.

All optical surfaces are fully broadband multicoated with HCI ultra high contrast coatings as well as anti-reflection coatings. It uses high quality BK7 glass and features a wavefront of 1/6 wave (corresponding to a surface accuracy of 1/12 wave or 1/20 RMS) or better. This will give incredible detail on planetary and lunar targets but its large aperture will also pull in those elusive deep space targets.

A key differentiating feature of this model is the use of an optical design employing three separate surfaces, and not two as in the standard Maksutov-Cassegrain design. The difference lies in the secondary mirror which consists of a separate lens and not simply a "painted" aluminum spot placed at the back of the corrector lens. This, coupled with the curve of the primary mirror which is smaller than the majority of competing telescopes, provides much better chromatic correction and a wider field of view.

Physical finish and construction are among the best you will find at this price. The telescope comes complete with a 2" 90-degree diagonal with a 1.25" adapter, a high quality 2" 26mm SWA eyepiece and a 7x50 finderscope. Finally, in order to transport your instrument safely, we offer this product with a robust aluminum case that holds the optical tube and included accessories.

This telescope is offered in an OTA package with the listed accessories only. However, it can be easily mounted via the included dovetail mounting plate on many of the popularly available telescope mounts such as those from Celestron, Synta, Vixen, etc. (not included).
