Explore Scientific 8x50mm Erect Image Illuminated Finder Scope - White # VFEI0850

Explore Scientific's 8x50 Erect-Image Illuminated Finder Scope (part # VFEI0850) is a fine optical instrument in its own right. It features a fully multi-coated achromatic objective and eyepiece for maximum contrast, and  produces a wide 6° field of view.  A precision polished roof prism produces images that are right-side-up, left-to-right correct. In other words, things are not upside-down and backwards like most viewfinders.

The Explore Scienitific straight-through finder has a precision glass-etched illuminated reticle with cross-hair to mark the field boundaries and an open circle in the middle so that stars can be perfectly centered without being covered. It has scale markings for 1.5°, 3°, and 4.5° (the edge of the field of view is the 6° boundary). The 55° apparent field, long eye-relief eyepiece produces a bright 15.5mm exit pupil and will allow you to find faint galaxies, comets, and nebulae. The deep red illumination is continuously variable to provide the desired brightness.

Focus for the objective and the long eye relief eyepiece have threaded locks, allowing precision focus of both the main objective and eyepiece illuminated reticle.

The finder comes with a bracket and an angled-design dovetail base that will fit all Explore Scientific telescopes as well as many other telescope tubes. Also includes two end caps. The tube sports a handsome white finish (a silver version is sold separately).
