Founder Optics Draco 62 Overview
Introducing the Draco 62: a fast, wide-field refractor that's versatile for both serious astrophotography and visual use. Featuring a native focal length of 300mm and 62mm aperture for a fast f/4.8 focal ratio, this portable Petzval is designed with imaging in mind.
In case f/4.8 isn't fast enough, a dedicated 0.83x reducer is included in the box. This brings the focal length down to 250mm and a blazing fast focal ratio of f/3.9.
Unlike other similarly-priced refractors, the Draco 62 comes with everything you need (and then some) in the box. Inside, you'll find the telescope, 0.83x reducer, both M54 & M48 adapters for attaching astronomy cameras, a 1.25" diagonal, tube ring, dovetail plate, manual, and a quality control check card, among other adapters. It's also compatible with the ZWO EAF and the FeatherTouch HSM out of the box without the need for any additional adapters.

Draco 62 Sample Images
Designed with Astrophotographers in Mind
Make no mistake: this tiny refractor is remarkably capable of taking great images on today's demanding astrophotography sensors. Astrophotographer and Agena Astro affiliate AstroBlender captured sample images with the ASI2600MC Duo (APS-C size sensor) showing the corner performance of the Draco 62 with and without the reducer:
More Features
- ED APO Lens: Five-element air-spaced design using ED APO glass.
- Dedicated 0.83x Reducer-f/3.9: Fast f/3.9 focal ratio is ideal for deep sky astrophotography.
- Waterproof & Fogproof: Nitrogen injected for waterproof IP67 rating. Hydrophobic coating on the air surface of the lens. No need to worry about temperature difference between indoors and outdoors.
- Unique Collimation Adjustment: Special design collimation function. Built-in ball bearing and spring structure, simplifying the twelve screws into two. Easy adjustment and accurate!
- Mechanical Stability: Threaded way to connect. Reduce the risk of unwanted focuser movement caused by the focuser sagging during installation.
- Compatibility for Camera Adapter: Supports ZWO cameras, provides M54, M48 adapters, and can also be used with Founder Optics T2 ring mount for all camera types.
- Rack & Pinion Focuser: One piece design Rack & Pinion focuser and draw tube. This integrated structure reduces the mechanical clearance and assembly tolerance. Compatible with ZWO EAF.
- Lightweight: Only weighs 2.4kg. It’s 3.2kg including the tube ring, handle, and dovetail plate.
- Perfect Accessories for Mounting: Multi-functional handle, combined with the tube ring and dovetail plate. Comes with tactical slide rails to provide multiple connection options.
- Quick Dew Shield Lock Ring: Provides a quick dew shield locking ring, which can tighten evenly, firmly and quickly.
- Visual Observation: Supports astronomical observation at the same time. One model for two uses.
- Focuser: Supports ZWO EAF and the FeatherTouch HSM motors out of the box without the need for any additional adapters
Specifications:
- Optical system: 5+2 = 7 Elements, Quintuplet refractor + 0.83x reducer
- Aperture: 62mm
