Synta-style dovetail base for finders and finder brackets. Same design as our Universal dovetail base, but this has a wider screw hole spacing. For use on many, but not all, SCT telescopes primarily, but can be used on other telescope tubes as well. Will work with most compatible bracket designs from Celestron, Orion, Synta, Vixen, etc.
However, this item may not work with some finder brackets from Orion, Antares and others as some of these can be a bit wider than this shoe can accommodate. To determine fit before purchase, please see the cross-section schematic diagram shown on photo 3 above and compare that to the foot of your stalk/holder before purchase.
Can accommodate screws up to 5mm in diameter. Center-to-center screw hole spacing on your telescope must be between 20mm (0.79") minimum and 37mm (1.46") maximum in order for this dovetail base to be compatible. Fits tubes 5" and larger in tube diameter (not telescope aperture), as well as flat surfaces. Please check your telescope tube's finder hole spacing before ordering.
The base is made of die-cast metal and features a large thumbscrew lock. No mounting screws are included. SCT owners will typically use the screws already on their tube or you may have to source these locally depending on what your telescope needs. Smooth black finish. Style of large silver locking thumbscrew may vary.
Please also note that this finder shoe has only one large locking thumbscrew (as pictured above). There is another threaded hole on the base on the same side that is plugged by a small setscrew. You can utilize this for an even firmer hold if you like (although we don't find it necessary), but note that a 2nd large thumbscrew is not included nor missing nor broken.

When ordering any Vixen style dovetail base (shoe), bar or plate, please note that there are two different size standards and applications in the industry. A Vixen/Synta dovetail base for this Agena product is smaller and generally has a slot opening to accommodate 32-34mm finder bracket dovetails. A Vixen base/clamp/saddle for mounts and telescopes is wider at 42-44mm. The two are not the same and are not interchangeable.
