Is the Seestar S50 Pro suitable for beginners?
Yes. The S50 Pro combines the telescope, cameras, computerized mount, autofocuser, tracking, filters, image stacking, and processing tools into one system. Select a target in the Seestar app and the telescope can automatically locate, center, track, and photograph it.
What can the Seestar S50 Pro photograph?
The S50 Pro can capture nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, the Moon, and the Sun when used with the included solar filter. Its separate wide-angle camera also supports Milky Way panoramas, star trails, constellations, and daytime photography.
Can you look through the Seestar S50 Pro with an eyepiece?
No. The S50 Pro is an imaging telescope without an eyepiece. You view targets and control the telescope through the Seestar app on a compatible phone or tablet.
How is the S50 Pro different from the original Seestar S50?
The S50 Pro upgrades the original S50 with a four-element APO optical system, a larger 8.3 MP main sensor, 4K image capture, and a significantly wider deep-sky field of view. It also adds a separate 4K wide-angle camera, improved tracking, 128 GB of storage, and a larger 10,000 mAh battery.
What does the S50 Pro’s wide-angle camera do?
The 4K wide-angle camera provides a 63° field of view for capturing large sections of the night sky. It enables dedicated Milky Way, constellation, star-trail, time-lapse, and wide-field live-stacking features that are not possible through the main 260 mm telephoto system.
Does the Seestar S50 Pro work under light-polluted skies?
Yes. Its built-in dual-band light-pollution filter isolates OIII and H-alpha wavelengths to improve contrast when photographing many emission nebulae. The bright Moon and Sun—using the included solar filter—can also be imaged effectively from light-polluted locations. Galaxies, reflection nebulae, and wide-angle Milky Way images will still benefit substantially from darker skies.
Does the Seestar S50 Pro support Equatorial Mode?
Yes. Equatorial Mode improves tracking and supports individual exposures of up to 60 seconds, but it requires accurate polar alignment and a compatible wedge or adjustable tripod head. The included tripod can be used for standard Alt-Azimuth operation; Seestar recommends its TH10 head and compatible S50 Pro quick-release plate for EQ Mode.
What filters are included with the S50 Pro?
The S50 Pro includes built-in UV/IR-cut filters for both cameras. The main telephoto camera also includes a dual-band OIII and H-alpha light-pollution filter and a dark-frame filter. A removable magnetic solar filter is included for safely photographing the Sun.
What comes with the Seestar S50 Pro?
The package includes the Seestar S50 Pro, an adjustable tripod, protective carrying case, magnetic solar filter, USB Type-C cable, quick-start guide, safety instructions, and astronomy-themed stickers. A compatible phone or tablet is required to operate the telescope.

Yes. The S50 Pro saves finished images as JPEG files and supports FITS files for users who want to process their own astrophotography data in software like Adobe Photoshop or Pleiades Astro PixInsight. It also supports the ASCOM Alpaca protocol for connection with compatible third-party astronomy software such as N.I.N.A.
Is the Seestar S50 Pro good for planetary imaging?
The S50 Pro can locate and record bright planets, but its 260 mm focal length is optimized primarily for deep-sky, solar, lunar, and wide-field imaging. A conventional long-focal-length telescope and planetary camera will produce substantially more detailed images of planets such as Jupiter and Saturn.
