This compact mounting base makes it easy to attach astrophotography accessories like mini guide scopes, laser pointers, red dot finders, or an ASIAir to your DSLR or mirrorless camera. It’s compatible with any standard Synta/Vixen-style dovetail shoe, so setup is quick and easy.
You can mount it in two ways: use the built-in 1/4"-20 threaded hole for a single-point connection, or slide it into your camera’s hot shoe slot. The base functions as a cold shoe, offering a stable platform without drawing power from your camera.
Made entirely of metal, this mount is built to last and supports accessories up to 2.2 lbs (1 kg). It includes a threaded thumbscrew to keep your gear locked firmly in place during use.
Whether you’re using it to help with polar alignment, finding objects, adding a guiding solution, or incorporating an ASIAir, this lightweight base at just 1.59 oz (45 g), adds flexibility to your setup without adding bulk. It’s a simple, reliable solution for expanding your astrophotography rig.
Additional Info
When ordering any Vixen style dovetail base (shoe), bar or plate, please note that there are two different size standards and applications in the industry. A Vixen/Synta dovetail base for this Agena product is smaller and generally has a slot opening to accommodate 32-34mm finder bracket dovetails. A Vixen base/clamp/saddle for mounts and telescopes is wider at 42-44mm. The two are not the same and are not interchangeable.
