The Triplet Advantage
The large perture of 140mm provides increased resolution, brightness, and contrast over smaller aperture telescopes. The Askar 140APO uses a triplet air-spaced APO lens design, including one piece of ED (Extra-low dispersion) glass. While the triplet lens design corrects chromatic aberration providing higher-quality object details and color accuracy.
Built-in Features for Easy Imaging
The Askar 140 APO is loaded with thoughtful hardware additions! A retractable dew shield with enlarged locking screw, provide easy adjustment. An 8.6" (220mm) long carry handle with convenient mounting base for a finder scope or other finder show accessories. The dovetail plate is a standard Losmandy, making it compatible with most mount saddles on the market. With the slotted handle, the spacing between the tube rings can be adjusted as desired!
An integrated retractable rear tube maintains optical alignment and stability whether extended or shortened, with a captain’s wheel-style locking ring for quick adjustment. Shorten the tube for binoviewer use, or extend it to accommodate optional reducers and flatteners for imaging or standard 1.25"/2" diagonals and eyepieces, with a 1.25"/2" adapter included.

The Askar 140APO has two optional correctors: a 1x flattener and a 0.8x reducer. Both accessories come with a built-in 2" filter thread for direct filter mounting. The 0.8x reducer is equipped with M54/M48 adapters, and the 1x flattener is equipped with M68/M54/M48 adapters for easy connection!
The 1x flattener does not change the telescope's focal ratio itself, it corrects field curvature and coma, resulting in flatter field edges and finer star points. The 0.8x reducer brings the 140APO's focal ratio down to f/5.6 and length to 784mm; making it suitable for capturing larger nebulae, star clusters, and fast-moving objects. Please note: these are not included and sold seperately
