These risers lift the Astrodymium Ring System 1.2" (30mm) above the dovetail bar, which gives extra clearance underneath the 135 lens to put accessories, or to make manual focusing easier.
Risers also prevent filter wheels from pressing against the ground when the lens is not being used.
