IDAS HEUIB-II: H-Alpha Enhancement with UV/near IR Suppression Filter!
This IDAS HEUIB-II filter will reduce the interference from the red end spectrum associated with regular astronomical IR-cut filters such as UIBAR-III, and as a result enhance the wavelength of H-alpha nebulae. Even in comparison with our conventional HEUIB filter, HEUIB-II has less interference from the red end spectrum as a result of the increase in the red spectrum suppression range. Thus, the image of nebulae in the H-alpha region will get enhanced.
The HEUIB-II, thus, works to bring the reddish color balance of an UV/IR modified camera closer to the normal color balance.The HEUIB-II is the only UV/IR-cut astronomical filter that can obtain images with a good white balance even with the auto white balance setting. Please note: The drop-in mounted filter holder is not included in the DRT filter purchase.
The NGS1 is highly effective at cutting out light pollution from legacy low-pressure and high-pressure sodium lamps.

This technology densifies the interference multi-layers, providing superior physical and optical properties that traditional coating methods simply cannot match.

HEUIB-II Placed Before Lens
Use a lens having the light incidence angle of 14 degrees or lower (field angle of 34 degrees or lower).
- This product is an interference filter. Its spectrum characteristics will be subject to the incidence of incoming light. Please carefully read the following few features carefully for proper use.
HEUIB-II Placed Between Lens (applies to IDASmio filters)
When your camera is equipped with an APS-C image sensor and uses a lens with a *back focal distance of 40mm or greater and F value of two or faster, it is possible to hold down the maximum averaged incidence angle of the incoming light ray against the filter within about 14°. Under the conditions of the above mentioned camera, there will be almost no field angle requirements for the lens to be used.
*Please note: the smaller the diameter of the rear lens element, the more likely the maximum averaged incidence angle would exceed 14° where the transmittance of nebula emission lines could be deteriorated around the peripheral of the image.
