IDAS NBZ-II Filter: Precision, Compatibility, and Power in Every Focus!
The IDAS NBZ-II is the next-generation Dual Band Nebula Booster filter, building on the success of the original NBZ (NBZex). It features narrow 8nm (±0.4nm) OIII and 9.5nm (±0.4nm) H-alpha passbands, providing excellent contrast for emission nebulae while retaining the anti-halo performance that made the original NBZ so popular. To ensure quality and consistency, each NBZ-II filter includes an individual test report showing its measured optical performance.
The NBZ-II is specifically engineered to perform well with today's fast astrographs. Interference filters naturally experience a shift in their transmission curve when light enters at steep angles, a common challenge with fast optical systems. Many competing 7nm or narrower filters can lose more than 50% of their transmission when used at around f/2. In contrast, the NBZ-II retains over 80% of its transmission under the same conditions, helping preserve signal strength, contrast, and image quality even with ultra-fast imaging systems. Please note: The drop-in mounted filter holder is not included in the DRT filter purchase.
