The Kokusai Kohki M4 Astro Ultra Lock Screw (ULS) is an oversized eyepiece lock screw that provides your valuable, delicate, often heavy and always expensive accessories a truly gripping experience.
The large head and extra long shaft of the ULS, with it's slightly rounded point, provides a substantial handle to easily and tightly apply a controlled lock on. And lock off is similarly precisely controllable, even with gloves on. Especially helpful in the cold and the dark, where accessory lock uncertainty is not an option.
The chrome plated copper construction of the ULS makes for a very strong screw that is virtually rustproof (you will notice that one thread is not silvered and the underlying copper is visible - this is an artifcat of the plating process and is not rust). The ULS thumb screw employs an M4 (4mm) / 0.7mm pitch thread that will replace many standard lock screws. Head width 10mm, with a 10mm gripping height, effective shaft length 13mm, overall length of about 28mm, and weight about 10 grams.
The ULS, a truly helpful and low cost “accessory" that provides peace of mind, and eliminates the aggravation and uncertainty of lesser lock screws, once and for all.
