Long Perng's "RPL" Orthoscopic Lanthanum eyepieces are a Japanese-design improvement by Kitakaru San of the traditional orthoscopic design, providing a wider field of view with negligible chromatic aberration. These eyepieces minimize optical distortions to deliver crisp views of the moon, planets, and compact deep-sky objects.
With a focal length of 40mm, this 2" 4-element eyepiece offers a 65-degree apparent field of view with 20mm of designed eye relief. All optical elements are fully multi-coated to enhance light transmission and improve contrast.
The eyepiece also includes pop-down rubber eye guards to keep stray light and improve viewing comfort. The body is CNC machined with a tapered nosepiece to help prevent the eyepiece from slipping when not fully secure in the focuser.
The Long Perng 40mm RPL eyepiece weighs just 407g (14.4 oz) and has a length of about 5.4" (137mm) with eye guards fully extended.
Note: The barrel of the 2" (50.8mm) Long Perng Long Eye Relief eyepieces are threaded for M48x0.75 filters sold by Orion – in most cases, they should be compatible with standard 2” filter threads from other manufacturers.
