Product Details

1. Fast Data Transfer

The QHY5III-series are fast and sensitive astronomy cameras and autoguiders. They use a 5Gbps USB3.0 interface and have a maximum 350MByte/s transfer speed of image frames, ideal for high speed imaging of fast-rotating planets.

2. Advanced Heat Design

QHY5III-series cameras incorporate an advanced thermal design that helps transfer heat generated by the sensor and electronics to the metal case of the camera quickly. Heat is dissipated by the cooling fins and by the eyepiece holder of your telescope.

3. Compact Robust Design

Like the QHY5II-series, the QHY5III-series cameras feature a compact body that slides into a 1.25” eyepiece holder. Each camera also includes an adjustable location ring to make it confocal with an eyepiece. The QHY5III-series also includes an extremely robust and stable 5-pin aircraft-spec socket for a secure, solid connection between the camera and other devices. The cameras come with a 5-pin-LEMO-to-RJ11 guide cable for autoguiding.

4. Larger Sensor and Small Pixels for Autoguiding and DSO Imaging

The QHY5III-178M color camera uses the 6.0 Megapixel IMX178 STARVIS Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor. With its small 2.4um pixels and 1/1.8-inch sensor size, the QHY5III-178M is a superb guiding camera because of its extraordinary sensitivity, high resolution, and large field of view. The camera also works well for imaging larger and brighter deep-sky objects in high resolution. It uses a proprietary anti-amp glow control function that reduces amplifier glow significantly, leading to more pleasing images with higher gain. The camera has a data transfer rate of 50fps at the maximum resolution of 3072 x 2048.

Software support includes: EZPlanetary, SharpCAP, FireCapture, Native WDM, BroadCast WDM and ASCOM.
