- Large-sized QHYCCD off-axis guider for QHY astronomy cameras with large 36 x 24mm, 37 x 37mm, and 48 x 36mm sensors
- Multi-coated prism with adjustable position for optimum optical alignment
- Ideal for guiding with telescopes with longer focal lengths that suffer from differential flexure of separate guide scopes
- Includes helical focuser with 6mm of travel for precise focusing of guide camera
1. Precision Connection, No Deflection
The main purpose of the off-axis guider (OAG) is to use the same optical path as the main camera when guiding during astrophotography. Using an OAG avoids the problem of differential deflection that can occur when using a separate guide scope. With an OAG, part of the image is picked-off from the edge of the imaging circle which does not block the main CCD. Off-axis guiding provides more accurate guiding and sharper final images.
All QHY off-axis guiders have the same body that includes an 8mmx8mm multi-coated prism to pick off the beam for the guide camera. The position of the prism can be adjusted as needed and locked down. The main camera connects to the OAG with six 3mm screws that ensure connection accuracy and parallelism, providing a reliable and secure mechanical connection.
2. QHY Off-Axis Guider for Large Cameras and Filter Wheels
QHY off-axis guiders come in three sizes: large, medium and small. These three sizes accommodate the dimensions of the telescope-camera interface and the light aperture suitable for different sizes of cameras and adapter accessories.
With a diameter of 68mm, this large-sized version of the QHY OAG works with M60x0.75 adapters. It supports cameras with large 36 x 24mm, 37 x 37mm, and 48 x 36mm sensors (although the 50100 CCD requires special adapter, sold separately), such as QHY16803 and QHY09000. This OAG is compatible only with the QHYCFW3XL filter wheel.
The QHYOAG-L weighs 149g.
3. Precise Easy Focusing
Each QHY OAG includes a locking helical 1.25” focuser with a 6mm range to help focus an image on your guide camera. When using QHY5II and QHY5III autoguiding cameras, the position of these cameras can be further adjusted in the OAG itself to accommodate a wide range of back focus.
4. Multiple Adapters and Flexible Combinations
In addition to connecting a QHY camera, you can also interface with various standard or optional accessories provided by QHYCCD to achieve complex and adaptable connections, including the use of the OAG as a stand-alone unit, connection to QHY filter wheels, and other applications.
