- Fast f/3.3 system for capturing faint nebulae in dramatically shorter exposures.
- Hyperbolic optics + ED corrector deliver sharp, coma-free stars edge to edge.
- Wide, flat 44mm image circle ideal for full-frame sensors and wide-field imaging.
- Precision focuser ensures stable, repeatable focus even with heavier cameras.
Medium-Aperture Model, Prioritizing Imaging Performance over Brightness
The Epsilon series astrographs are engineered specifically for high-performance astrophotography. Takahashi’s proprietary design combines a hyperbolic concave primary mirror with a two-element corrector, dramatically reducing spherical aberration, coma, and chromatic aberration—by nearly 50% compared to traditional Schmidt camera designs.
The E-160ED blends the easy handling of the E-130D with the advanced performance of the E-180ED. Its 160 mm aperture and 530 mm focal length deliver a flat, fully corrected field optimized for full-frame sensors. An ED glass corrector achieves pinpoint stars with spot sizes as small as 3 μm at the edge of the frame, while the offset secondary and refined spider design suppress stray light. A precision push-pull collimation system and removable center cover ensure accurate alignment and quick thermal acclimation. Note: Price includes OTA only. Mount, tripod, tube holder, and finder sold separately. The E-160ED corrector is not compatible with older E-160 OTAs.
