The FC-100DZ is Takahashi’s refined take on the classic 100mm fluorite doublet — delivering premium performance in a beautifully compact package. With a 100mm aperture and 800mm focal length, this f/8 system pairs a fluorite element with a high refractive index, low-dispersion glass to achieve exceptional color correction across the entire visible spectrum. The result? A Strehl ratio exceeding 97.6% and noticeably tighter star images, especially at shorter wavelengths. In fact, the blue halo sometimes seen in earlier designs has been reduced by roughly 50% compared to the FC-100D — a meaningful upgrade for today’s demanding imaging sensors.
Fully compatible with existing FC-100 system accessories, including the FC/FS Multi-Flattener and FC-35 0.66X Reducer (sold separately), the FC-100DZ easily transitions from visual excellence to serious imaging performance. Add the FC-35 reducer and you’ve got a fast f/5.3 system capable of illuminating a full-frame sensor. Mechanically, it features a 95mm tube diameter, retractable dew shield, and the same robust focuser found on the FC-100DF and DL. With the dew shield retracted and accessories removed, the tube measures just 595mm in length — compact enough for airline travel — and weighs approximately 3.8 kg.
