The Takahashi RD-QB 0.73x Reducer is the latest high-performance reducer designed specifically for the FSQ-85EDX telescope, delivering a noticeable boost in speed while preserving the system’s renowned optical correction. Built around a sophisticated four-element, two-group optical design, this reducer shortens the focal length by 0.73x, transforming the FSQ-85EDX into an exceptionally fast wide-field imaging platform.
When paired with the FSQ-85EDX, the RD-QB produces an effective focal length of 330 mm and a rapid f/3.9 focal ratio, making it ideal for capturing expansive nebulae, star fields, and large deep-sky targets with shorter exposure times. Field curvature correction remains excellent—comparable to the scope’s native 1.01x flattener—ensuring sharp, well-defined stars from the center to the edges of the frame. Please note: It is also advisable to obtain the CA-35 (SKY-90) TKA35201 to aid in mounting your camera at the correct backspace.
