This item has a 2" OD (outside diameter) barrel with an M48 male thread. It's purpose is to attach to the bottom of TV's 2" eyepieces or to the 2" portion of their dual-barrel eyepieces via the M48 filter thread on the eyepieces. This allow you to extend the length of the original nosepiece/barrel if you need to. The 2nd product photo above shows its intended use. While this will work with Tele Vue's 2" eyepiece filter threads, we cannot guarantee that it will work well with the M48 filter threads on eyepieces from other brands.
Tele Vue's 2" Eyepiece Barrel Extender (EBX-2120) increases backfocus distance and provides a mounting location for 2" (48mm) eyepiece filters. It can also help parfocalize eyepiece sets. Extender adds 1.2-inches to the 2" barrel.
Ethos
Models with dual 2" / 1¼" barrels can use the extender.
12mm Nagler Type-4
The EBX-2120 makes the 12mm approximately parfocal with the 17mm and 22mm Nagler Type-4 eyepieces when used in a Tele Vue 2" diagonal.
55mm Plossl
Because the field stop is located near the bottom of the chrome eyepiece barrel, you will need to rack your focuser out further, relative to most other eyepieces. If you find that you cannot rack your focuser out enough to achieve focus, we strongly recommend you purchase Televue's EBX-2120. This will make Tele Vue's 55mm Plossl eyepiece approximately parfocal with their 27mm Panoptic eyepiece.
Additional Notes:
- When joining eyepieces with dual 2" / 1¼" barrels to the 2" Barrel Extender (12mm Nagler Type-4 shown in second photo above), remove the lock screw in the 2" barrel section of the eyepiece.
- We do not recommend the use of this item with non Tele Vue products. We have seen many cases where this item does not work well with products from other brands due to slightly oversized male threads on this item.
- This item does not come with any end caps. When used with 2" Tele Vue eyepieces, as this item is intended to be used, you can use the end cap from the eyepiece with this extension.
