- 103mm SD apochromatic doublet minimizes chromatic aberration for sharp views
- 795mm Focal Length (f/7.7) is ideal for lunar, planetary, and deep-sky observing and imaging
- Ring-shaped lens spacer eliminates diffraction spikes for cleaner, rounder stars
- Lightweight optical tube with included carry handle, illuminated finderscope, and 1.25" flip mirror diagonal
Vixen Telescope SD103S II Optical Tube Assembly
The successor to the favorably reviewed SD103S, SD103S II has a generous 103mm aperture and long 795mm focal length. You can use the SD103S II for a wide variety of purposes, from visual observation to astrophotography. The Vixen SD103SII features an improved ring-shaped lens spacer that eliminates the diffraction artifacts caused by the three foil spacers used in the previous SD103S model. By removing protrusions from the optical path, the new design produces cleaner, more uniform diffraction patterns, resulting in sharper, beautifully rounded stars!
Please note: Eyepieces in gallery images are not included and for demonstrative purposes only.

SD Glass for Exceptional Color Correction
The Vixen SD103SII features premium FPL53 Super ED (SD) glass, designed to minimize chromatic aberration and deliver sharp, high-contrast images. Unlike conventional optical glass, SD glass reduces the dispersion of different wavelengths of light, bringing colors into nearly the same focal plane for outstanding clarity and minimal color fringing.
The SD103SII provides excellent correction across the visible spectrum, including red (C-ray), yellow (d-ray), green (e-ray), blue (F-ray), and violet (g-ray) wavelengths. Its exceptional correction of short-wavelength violet light further improves image contrast, producing crisp, detailed stars with minimal unwanted color.

Visual Observing & Astrophotography
With a 103 mm aperture and 795 mm focal length, the Vixen SD103SII is ideal for everything from detailed planetary observations to imaging nebulae and star clusters. The included flip mirror diagonal allows quick switching between two eyepieces or between visual observing and astrophotography using a camera and eyepiece. A standard dovetail mounting plate and sturdy metal carry handle make transporting, mounting, and removing the optical tube quick and convenient.

Included 7x50 Finder Scope II w/ Illuminated Crosshairs
The Vixen SD103SII includes a versatile 7x50 Finder Scope II with adjustable red-illuminated crosshairs for easy target alignment in dark conditions. Its built-in dark-field illumination improves visibility without overwhelming your night vision. The removable 1.25" (31.7 mm) eyepiece assembly also allows the finder to double as a guide scope when paired with a compatible CMOS guiding camera (sold separately).
