Dark Current Vs Temperature
The unique dark current suppression technology can further reduce dark current noise. At a cooling temperature of 0°C, the dark current noise is only 0.00845e/s/pix. This means a 300s exposure will only cause a dark current noise of 2.5 e/pix, which is completely negligible!


High Quantum Efficiency (QE)
After "ZWO Laboratory" calculation, the peak quantum efficiency of ASI585MM Air is 91%. Higher QE means the sensor captures more of the faint light from deep-sky objects, resulting in cleaner, brighter images with shorter exposure times.

Efficient Cooling, Superior Image Quality
The two-stage TEC cooling system lowers the CMOS sensor temperature by 30°C–35°C below ambient, effectively reducing dark current generation. Even during long exposures of several hundred seconds, noise remains minimal.
Note: The lower the ambient temperature, the smaller the cooling differential.

What power supply do I need?
The ASI585MM Air requires a 12V DC power source capable of 3–5A. You can use ZWO’s AC adapter, or a lithium battery (11–14V). A USB 3.0 connection alone isn’t enough to power the TEC cooler.
How do I connect my ZWO ASI585 Air to the rest of my imaging train while achieving the correct backspacing?
ZWO includes all the necessary spacers and adapters to connect with any system that requires 55mm of backspacing and which uses M48 threads.
What devices can be controlled by the ASI2600MC Air?
The ZWO ASI585MM Air has the same functions and abilities as a standalone ZWO ASIAIR unit. This means it can control any ZWO accessory like the Camera Angle Adjuster (CAA), the EAF or the new EAFN, and the ZWO AM3/AM5/AM5N mounts. With a built-in autoguider, there is no need to connect to an external guide camera, and even some of the newer mounts like the AM5N can be controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth or WiFi.
How does the two-stage TEC cooling and noise performance work?
The ASI585 Air incorporates a two-stage TEC cooling system that can lower the sensor temperature to more than 35°C below ambient. This cooling dramatically reduces dark current noise, and the innovative “zero amp glow” design further minimizes unwanted artifacts during long exposures.
