Latest "New" ZWO version

The ZWO 1.25” SHO Filter Set includes three 1.25” mounted astrophotography filters that pass light in a narrow 7nm band from ionized sulfur (SII) at 672nm, Hydrogen Alpha (at 656nm), and ionized oxygen (OIII) near 500nm. By taking individual images with each of these filters and a monochrome astronomy camera (sold separately) and combining the images with standard processing techniques, you can create high-contrast images of emission nebulae (like the Orion, Lagoon, and Eagle Nebulae), planetary nebulae (such as the Ring, Dumbbell and Helix Nebulae), and supernova remnants such as the Veil Nebula.

The images made can also be combined with images from LRGB filters (sold separately) to create highly detailed full color images, even when captured in relatively light-polluted sky. These filters also block UV and IR light to ensure sharp star images.

Each of the filters in this set are 2mm thick and polished to ¼-wave and fully multicoated to ensure optimum image quality. With peak transmission of >80% at each of the three passbands, the ZWO narrowband SHO filter set is ideal for use with monochrome ZWO cameras and ZWO manual or electronic filter wheels that accept 1.25” mounted filters (filter wheel sold separately).

This set is not suitable for imaging with DSLRs or one-shot color astronomy cameras. It is not suitable for cameras with larger APS-C or full-frame sensors because the edges of such large sensors are blocked by the filter apertures. For these larger sensors, choose 36mm round unmounted filters (for APS-C sensors and smaller) or 2” mounted filters (for up to full-frame sensors).

Technical Data:

  • FWHM:7±0.5nm
  • Thickness 2mm
  • Fine-optically polished to ensure accurate 1/4 wavefront over the both surfaces
  • 80% transmission at H-alpha line 656nm (H-Alpha filter )
  • 80% transmission at SII line 672nm (SII filter )
  • 80% transmission at major OIII line 500nm (OIII filter )
