Easy Adjust Guidescope Mount
The Agena Guidescope Mount is an adjustable alt-az mounting platform designed to help astrophotographers precisely align a guide scope with their main telescope. It provides a more controlled alternative to traditional guide rings, allowing users to fine-tune guide scope positioning without shifting the main imaging telescope off target. The removable Vixen-style saddle on top accepts compatible guide scopes, small optical tubes, or dovetail-mounted accessories.
On the telescope side, the base of the mount is designed to attach to a suitable rail, mounting plate, or telescope accessory surface using its threaded mounting points and baseplate holes. This allows the guidescope mount to become part of a more rigid imaging setup, whether mounted piggyback-style above the main optical tube or integrated into a side-by-side configuration with the proper hardware. Out of box this mount is compatible with the Sky-Watcher EvoGuide 50ED, though, another product with recommend it with Sky-Watcher EvoGuide 50ED.
Once installed, the guide scope can be aimed using separate altitude and azimuth adjustment controls. The user secures the guide scope in the top saddle, points the main telescope at the imaging target, then adjusts the guidescope mount until a suitable guide star is centered in the guide camera’s field of view. This makes it easier to begin autoguiding during long-exposure imaging while keeping the primary telescope locked on the intended target.
