A Legendary Telescope, Ready for Your First Night Out
The Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope has introduced thousands of people to the universe — and for good reason. It combines the impressive light-gathering power of an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain with a simple, portable design that anyone can set up and enjoy.
Our Starter Bundle takes that iconic telescope and makes it even easier to get started. Each accessory was chosen to help new astronomers have a smooth, successful first experience — no confusion, no missing parts, just a complete, ready-to-go observing kit.
Well known astrophotographer AstroBackyard reviews the Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope in this helpful review video:
Key Features of the Celestron NexStar 8SE
Powerful 8-Inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Optics
The NexStar 8SE’s 203 mm aperture gathers 77% more light than the 6SE, revealing faint star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies with sharp contrast and vibrant detail. Its compact optical design delivers impressive reach without the bulk of a larger telescope.
Fully Computerized GoTo Mount
Locate and track over 40,000 celestial objects at the touch of a button. Celestron’s intuitive NexStar + hand controller and precision motorized mount take the guesswork out of stargazing, automatically centering your targets so you can focus on observing, not searching.
Quick Setup with SkyAlign Technology
Spend more time observing and less time aligning. Simply point the telescope at any three bright objects, and SkyAlign automatically calculates your position—no polar alignment required. The entire setup process takes only minutes from power-on to your first view.
A Hand-Picked Bundle for Easy Success
Assembled by Agena Astro’s in-house team with over 200 years of combined observing experience, this bundle includes the essentials every beginner needs to get off to a great start. It’s designed to remove common frustrations — unstable power, limited eyepiece options, or unclear setup steps — so you can spend your first night observing, not troubleshooting.
This package is the perfect introduction to the Celestron NexStar 8SE — a telescope that will grow with you as your skills and curiosity expand.
What’s Included in the Starter Bundle
Celestron 1.25" 2x Omni Barlow Lens
Double your magnification instantly! The Omni Barlow lets you zoom in for a closer look at the Moon’s craters, Jupiter’s cloud belts, and Saturn’s rings — perfect for exploring finer details without swapping eyepieces. Simply insert one of the included eyepieces into the Barlow, place it in your telescope’s focuser, and your magnification doubles automatically. It’s an easy, powerful way to expand what your NexStar 8SE can show.
Celestron ND 0.9 Moon Filter (13% Transmission)
If you’ve ever looked at the Moon through a large telescope, you know how blindingly bright it can be — especially through an 8-inch scope like the NexStar 8SE. The Celestron ND 0.9 Moon Filter tones down that harsh glare, revealing far more subtle detail while keeping your eyes comfortable. Craters, ridges, and lunar maria stand out with crisp contrast, letting you explore the Moon for longer without squinting or eye strain.
Celestron AC Adapter
Plug in to any standard AC outlet for steady, uninterrupted power. The AC Adapter keeps your mount tracking perfectly during extended observing sessions.
LensPen Optics Cleaning Tool
Keep your optics pristine with the LensPen, designed specifically for telescope lenses and eyepieces. A retractable brush removes dust, while the carbon-cleaning tip safely clears smudges — maintaining crisp, clear views night after night.
What You’ll See with the NexStar 8SE
With its 203 mm aperture and precision tracking, the Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope reveals stunning detail across the sky:
-
Crisp views of Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s cloud belts, and the Moon’s craters
-
Thousands of pinpoint stars in globular clusters like M13
-
Bright nebulae such as Orion and Lagoon etched with filaments and glowing gas
-
Galaxies such as Andromeda and the Whirlpool stand out brilliantly from dark skies
Under the right conditions, you can explore beyond the familiar — faint nebulae, delicate star clusters, and even galaxies millions of light-years away.
Effortless Setup & All-Night Performance
Celestron’s SkyAlign system makes setup quick and intuitive — simply center three bright objects, and the telescope does the rest. Once aligned, the GoTo mount automatically locates and tracks your targets as you observe.
Use the PowerTank Lithium LT for hours of cable-free power in the field, or the AC Adapter for steady performance at home. Every component is designed for convenience, reliability, and a better observing experience.
