L-eXtreme of EOS-R Clip-In Filter - 2025 Version
The Optolong L-eXtreme is a dual 7nm bandpass filter designed for one-shot color cameras, DSLRs, and monochrome cameras. Well suited for fast optical systems, it isolates the H-alpha (Ha) and Oxygen III (OIII) emission lines to improve nebula contrast and signal-to-noise ratio, even when imaging under heavy light pollution or moonlit skies.
Unlike the tri-band L-eNhance, which transmits H-beta, H-alpha, and OIII, the L-eXtreme focuses specifically on H-alpha and OIII. By blocking wavelengths between these key emission lines, the filter reduces unwanted light pollution, creates darker sky backgrounds, and helps bring out more detail in emission nebulae.
Hydrogen and oxygen produce some of the most important emission lines found in many nebulae. By emphasizing these wavelengths while suppressing unwanted portions of the spectrum, the L-eXtreme provides a focused solution for capturing high-contrast emission nebula images.
