Spectrum Optical Instruments: SPi53 Smart Telescope
If you are looking for a portable, versatile, and easy-to-use imaging astrophotography system, the SkyPilot 53 (SPi53) is the perfect choice. It features a 53 mm ED refractor telescope paired with an intelligent camera that functions as both a finder/guide scope and an imaging device. The SPi53 uses the MirroSky intelligent astronomical system to help users capture celestial objects quickly and conveniently via the MirroSky app. Its built-in smart technology allows the guidescope to navigate the night sky and automatically point the telescope to targets, requiring no manual star alignment. The integrated Sony IMX662 CMOS sensor powers the imaging capabilities, capturing short-exposure images that are automatically aligned, stacked, and processed to produce detailed deep-sky photographs.

Upgrade for Visual Observing with Optional Main Tube
You can easily upgrade the SPi53 system for visual observing by adding an optional main optical tube (not included in package). Simply swap in your preferred telescope tube onto the mount and pair it with the 53 mm ED guidescope and smart imaging camera already included, allowing you to use the mounts’ GoTo and plate‑solving capabilities for both imaging and visual observing sessions! The images below show the optional added main OTA and an upgraded extendable tripod.

MirroSky Intelligent Astrosystem
The SPi53 , through its app, uses plate-solving technology, allowing the MirroSky camera to determine its exact pointing location on a celestial map at any time and from any location. Plate-solving is a process that matches star patterns in the field of view to an internal celestial map database, enabling the telescope to pinpoint your setup’s exact position in the sky. With a database of over 100,000 objects, including Messier, NGC, and solar system targets, as well as each night’s most popular objects! You operate the SPi53 directly from your smartphone or tablet, with no hand controller needed. Because it uses the MirroSky app, there’s no need for a GPS receiver to determine time, date, or location. No guesswork, just power on the device, and the MirroSky Intelligent Astrosystem does the rest!
