FC-76DCU: Standard Model of a Modern Classic
The Takahashi FC-76DCU Refractor Telescope is a thoughtfully engineered 76 mm f/7.5 fluorite doublet refractor that blends classic Takahashi optical performance with exceptional portability. Featuring a premium fluorite front element, the FC-76DCU delivers true apochromatic correction with outstanding contrast, razor-sharp star images, and virtually no false color. With its 570 mm focal length, it excels on the Moon and planets while still offering pleasing wide-field views of deep-sky targets. Lightweight and mount-friendly, it’s equally at home as a grab-and-go visual instrument or a refined imaging platform.
Designed with travel in mind, the tube separates into front and rear sections with a M78 screw thread, making it easy to pack for dark-sky trips! The front section measures 13.4 in (340.36 mm), the rear about 7.5 in (190.5 mm), from the separation point to the back of the focuser. Finally, the eyepiece section adds another 5.5 in (139.7 mm). This modular design allows the FC-76DCU to fit into compact cases without compromising mechanical stability. Its flexible system compatibility also supports a variety of reducers and flatteners (sold separately), giving observers and astrophotographers multiple configuration options while preserving the renowned precision and build quality Takahashi is known for.
