ToupTek ATR Series DeepSky Astrophotography Camera!
Designed specifically for the demanding needs of solar astrophotographers, the ATR428M is an exceptional imaging platform powered by the high-sensitivity Sony IMX428 CMOS sensor. Featuring a generous 1" optical format with large 4.5 pixels and a native 12-bit ADC, this camera delivers ultra-low noise, high sensitivity, and an artifact-free global shutter engineered for rapid frame-rate capture. It excels at freezing atmospheric turbulence during high-speed tracking, outputting blisteringly fast speeds at its 1600 x 1100 resolution—up to 133.3 fps in 8-bit mode, and an impressive 96.1 fps in full 12-bit depth. For amateur astronomers pairing their setups with solar spectrographs, specialized solar telescopes, or narrowband H-alpha devices like the DayStar Quark, the IMX428 sensor offers class-leading quantum efficiency directly at the critical H-alpha line (656.3 nm), ensuring your solar imaging is packed with razor-sharp, high-contrast surface details.
Please note: all ToupTek Astro DSO cooled cameras can only be powered by 12V3A DC power supply. We recommend using the power adapter that comes with the camera or a lithium-ion battery with stable output of 11-14V. Please do not use power supplies that have falsely stated specifications or unstable outputs to power the camera, as this may affect image capture or even damage the camera.
Sensor Specifications
- ATR428M features a IMX432 Mono, 1.1inch Format sensor
- Diagonal: 17.5mm
- Pixel Size: 9μm x 9μm
Fast DDR3 Memory
ATR428M is equipped with USB 3.0/2.0 transmission interfaces and a built-in 512MB DDR3 memory buffer. This high-speed cache handles image data, reducing the burden on the computer's transmission system and ensuring stable, rapid data transfer.
Two Stage TEC cooling system
The ATR428M is equipped with a dual-stage TEC cooling system, which uses a PID algorithm to precisely regulate the cooling temperature for optimal stability and efficiency, achieving temperature stability of ±0.1°C. A controllable electric fan assists heat dissipation. The TEC system can lower the sensor temperature below ambient by up to 35°C during short-exposure shooting, and by up to 45°C during long exposures (≥5 seconds). This high-efficiency cooling significantly suppresses dark current and thermal noise, ensuring stable image quality.
Anti-dew technology
The ATR428M features a built-in heating module within the sensor's glass chamber, adjustable via software with four levels of control. This effectively prevents condensation on the CMOS sensor surface and protects against moisture forming on the glass window. It ensures stable performance even in outdoor environments with high humidity and significant temperature fluctuations.
Native 12-bit ADC & High Frame Rate
The ATR428M offers a native 12-bit ADC, delivering a stable high dynamic range. In 8-bit ADC mode, the frame rate reaches 133.3fps, enabling rapid recording of solar brightness variations and capturing fine details on the solar disk.
