Ultimate Cable Master for RASA and HyperStar 6" - Spike Free Version
The Wanderer Ultimate Cable Master for the Celestron RASA 6" and HyperStar 6" (Spike-Free Version, WUCMR6-SF) is a patented cable-management bracket that replaces every cable crossing the light path with a single S-shaped printed circuit board, eliminating the cable-induced diffraction that has long been one of the most frustrating drawbacks of fast prime-focus imaging.
After dozens of design iterations, WandererAstro settled on an S-shaped PCB only 3 millimeters wide. On a RASA or HyperStar 6", the result is round, refractor-clean star profiles, free of the spurious spikes that ordinary cable routing produces in front of the corrector.
USB data and 12 V power are carried across the PCB itself, so no separate cable ever enters the light path. It provides two USB 2.0 ports for the camera and accessories, plus a single 12 V output rated for 3 A. For unattended overnight sessions we recommend keeping the 12 V load at or below 2 A — roughly 85% cooling power on most cooled CMOS cameras.
Installation is non-destructive and fully reversible. Fully compatible with the Celestron dew heater ring and dew shield, and the majority of third-party shields.
Cross Spike Version or Spike Free Version?
From an optical standpoint, the Cross Spike Version introduces minimal obstruction and can deliver slightly sharper images. If you do not like diffraction spikes, or if you need to rotate the CAA very often, the Spike-Free Version is the better choice. However, unlike a refractor, residual diffraction artifacts may still be visible in bright stars due to factors such as stress in the Schmidt corrector plate, although the results are significantly cleaner than with traditional solutions.

A specially designed PCB spans the optical path, completely eliminating the need for cables in the light path. The result is cleaner diffraction patterns and improved image quality, addressing one of the most common challenges faced by RASA and HyperStar users.
